Padgett

Dorothy Alice Harp Padgett, 84, of Versailles, widow of Bradford S. Padgett Sr., died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Bradford Square Nursing Home, Frankfort.

She was one of nine children of the late James Andrew and Ida Bell Franklin Harp. She was a longtime member of the Versailles First Christian Church, and had been a Sunday school teacher. She had held leadership roles for many years in the Parent Teacher Association at both local and state levels.

Survivors include five children, Wanda Lee Dutton, Versailles, Alice Faye Dawson, Frankfort, Jane Sharon Dozier, Versailles, Beverly Frances Redmon, Frankfort, and Bradford "Stony" Padgett Jr., Versailles; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys Stokes, Georgetown, and Emma Lee Harp, Lexington. A son, Jerry Francis Padgett, five sisters, and one brother, are deceased.

Services were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Bobby Lakes. Interment was at the Old Union Christian Church Cemetery, Fayette County. Grandchildren served as casket bearers.
